February Flusters

So instead of writing a boring blog post about how I haven't been able to keep up with all of my 4+ jobs and the reasons why I haven't been as active in the shop as I had hoped....

I AM GOING TO BE ACTIVE.

So, no back story!

February is wrapping up nicely.  I have finally gotten all of my orders out this month.  Besides being sucked into working huge amounts of overtime this month there was also massive snowfall in Connecticut.  This snowfall  caused a huge leak in my studio and I had to shut down for about a week while the snow melted and rain beat down.  HOWEVER!  The snow is melting, the roof will be fixed, so back in I go!

I wanted to share an image of one of my favorite mobile orders from this month.  I think it was just right for the end of February.  Start with the idea of love and end with a touch of spring!

Moving forward.  I have cut out a job or two to be able to focus on the shop more.  I am excited to be able to focus more on design in the next few months.  So, check back next week.  I'll hopefully have another post up!

I AM OPEN!

It has taken a year...

But I think I am back on track.

About a year ago my life fell apart.  I was not able to deal with the challenges thrown at me.  For those who know me, or follow this blog, you understand I am the type of person who keeps going.  I thrive on projects and like to check things off lists.  At some point those projects and lists became my life.  I got too wrapped up in getting things done to take time and enjoy my life and all of the treasures within it.  So I broke.

Sometimes things need to break in order to be rebuilt better.  So a year later, I have accomplished much and very little at the same time... depending on which list I am looking at.  But at least I have started making lists again.

A few things have changed.  I now work, out of the home.  I have started freelance work again.  It has taken a while, but I have found a few jobs that fit well.  I have also realized that I miss making things.  So, here we are.

I am going to start making things.  Feel free to stop by from time to time.

I've turned the lights back on, and it's getting brighter in here all the time.

Hello World... I think it might be time to catch up.

What was another planned short vacation turned into an unexpected leave of absence. The past few months have been tough: births, productions, hurricanes, flooding, family hardships, personal losses, deaths, and disappointments. Experiencing each in turn is to be expected in life. Experiencing them all at the same time can prove to be too much for some. I have now learned that coping with life's unexpected twists brings out the best and the worst in all people, at different times. I am glad I learned these lessons however time to process between each event may have been easier.

I pride myself on being a highly organized person, who enjoys art is many forms. I like responding to emails when they are received and checking items off lists. I have found that I can procrastinate, I can even turn my entire brain off for short times. Not that I recommend it, but every once in a while it helps. There is a time and a place for every form of progress. Top speeds can burn out engines faster than fast. When an engine dies it needs to be rebuilt from scratch.

Well, I think I'm ready to face the world again. Time to stop waxing philosophical and get back to work. I'm not quite back to top speed, looking to follow the speed limit for a while.

Thank you everyone for your patience over the past few months, 6 to be exact. Sometimes life hands you lemons and you don't have the ingredients to make lemonade.
